Where do you get aluminum nitride?


Aluminum nitride is described as a ceramic material that is refractory and made of composite ceramic materials that have hexagonal wurtzite structures. Pure aluminum nitride that is blue-white in color, is also known as aluminum nitride ceramic. It is generally white or gray.

Aluminum nitride mellows at 2800°C, and remains solid at temperatures up to 2800°C. It is high in thermal conductivity, excellent electrical insulation and has low dielectric constants and dielectric losses. The combination of these characteristics makes it an ideal material for advanced applications in lighting, optics and electronic devices, as well as renewable energy.




Aluminum nitride can be prepared using the following techniques: direct nitriding; high energy, carbothermal ball grinding; high temperature self-propagating synthetic synthesis; chemical vapor desposition.

It can resist erosion of all molten salts, except chloride and cryolite.

Where is Aluminium Nitride used?


Aluminum nitride aln is a solid nitride of aluminum. It is an electrically insulator, and has a thermal conductivity of 321 W/(m*K).


Due to its thermal conductivity, aluminum nitride is an extremely preferred choice. It is often used to replace BeO because of the health risks inherent with BeO. In addition, the thermal expansion coefficient (cte) is lower than that of beryllium or alumina, which makes it more compatible with silicon-based CTE equivalents. Aluminum nitride is not abrasive with many gasses and chemicals which makes it ideal for use in the semiconductor industry.
