zinc concentrate is a powdery substance made up of minute, dry particles of pure zinc. It is used in many industrial processes.

Zink is a vital mineral and has been used since the dawn of time to enhance and maintain optimum health. It bolsters the immune system and assists wound healing. In addition, it supports the body’s hormonal balance and growth, assists in the proper function of enzymes, and helps decrease inflammation.

Various forms of zinc are found throughout the earth. The most common is sphalerite, which is typically found in thin veins running through rock. It is often associated with other minerals such as calcite (CaCO3), pyrite (FeS2) or barytes (BaSO4).

The concentration of zinc in the ore varies widely. Most ores contain only about 6% of zinc, but some may contain up to 90%. This makes upgrading the ore to a concentrate with more than 50% of zinc difficult.

Some of the methods used for zinc mining and processing include flotation, smelting and electrolysis. A flotation process uses air, water and special chemicals to separate the valuable zinc minerals from the waste rock particles or tailings that form during mining.

The zinc concentration is very important for determining the purity of the leached solution. This concentration is determined by the solubility of zinc ions in an acidic solution such as a sulfuric acid or hydrofluoric acid. The solubility of zinc is mainly dependent on the degree of freedom that exists between the valuable zinc mineral and the gangue minerals.
